Discover How I Handled My Failures in School

Last April 10, 2012 our grades we're released, this was the day "The Judgment Day" for students(my schoolmates).

I wrote this as a delayed response for my beloved schoolmates (in fairness they like me too! hek! :D).

Oftentimes, after seeing their grades, I always hear them saying "oh gush my grades!!!", "ha? karun pa lage ko ani?, "hala nagtinarong man ko?", "hala, oy summer jud ko ani", pressured and depressed...
And for them not to lose hope the tips would somehow provide them a teammate (well thats me someone they can relate to... :)) These tips would give you an idea, philosophy, knowledge or wisdom that would protect you from negativity, this is just based on my own experience and it actually works!

                                          THE DAY!

It takes an hour for me to let go of my comfort zone which is in waking up in bed that would actually eat up a lot of time before I start my wonderful day!

I always steal for an extra mile of sleep, and staring on the sealing walls and take several minutes of day dreaming, well, this would depend if I am dreaming of riding my own dream car, or having a billion dollar company industry in my dreams(I know this would turn up in to reality and help a lot of people to expand their means too WATCH OUT!...)

                          BREATH TAKING MOMENTS
I was quite nervous even if I always declared it to myself to think positively towards my grades, but sometimes the nervousness would cover a lot of positiveness in my mind.

If there would be a big possibility that my grades are not that high (I am tired of studying I feel like I am torturing my body, and mind), on that day it plays on my mind the possibilities. What if this? and that?, the funny thing was, I don't accept defeat, that ignores the PLAN B.

When I finally see my grades, beng!!! 2 subjects failed, Differential Calculus and Probability and Statistics (this summer I am a 3rd taker on this subject), but its okay I just think POSITIVELY! Like:

1. MINDSET:
I always think that I will never get worried about my grades because I am now in line with the most famous people in the world(HAHAHA) like: Bill Gates, the owner of Microsoft. Though he is a college drop out but I am a little near to him(JOKE), I didn't forget his quote about his success towards his career that "I Failed in some subjects in exam, but my friend PASSED in all. Now he is an engineer in Microsoft and I am the owner of Microsoft", just to add up, my professor also said to us when we talk informally with my 2 friends, he said "wala mana sa grado magda-og tanan ba, sa diskarte man jud(I dont know how to translate this in english)", These lines strengthens me not to take schooling seriously, one also of the reason why I am so relax about my grades, (because I see a lot of results comparing the better and worse case scenarios from them and see which is better for me) but for other people it's terrible, for them they can achieve their dreams through studying hard, and find a good job. While for me it's different.

2. HOPE:

It's an advantage like me who failed several times because I became too numb of it, but somehow I am learning, and making myself grow.

I have one example:

I have a friend who shared to us about his grades, he is an academically oriented person, that he aims higher grades(this is what majority of us students do for their parents and for their own), what happened was he failed in 1 subject that made him so down all day, that was his first time of his entire life, and I was so worried also about him that let him knew about my side also, I opened up to him that I failed several times, I even fail 5 subjects right now(Midterm grade)! Although it's my fault because I am too stubborn when it comes to academics, but sometimes I'll condemn myself and come up with an motivational idea that "It's better to fail in doing something, than to succeed in doing nothing", and "It's better to pass in subjects on learning something, than to pass in subjects on learning nothing ", I never let myself surpass on challenges without learning, I just don't have to worry about that!, anyways I am learning from my own mistakes.

It is more favorable if I am a growth oriented than to be a goal oriented!, if I have caught an opportunity that will help me grow as a person, then without hesitation I'll surely grab it!

Not only myself can benefit to this but also to the persons involved in the process of my growth, once it is stable, step by step I can do things that were impossible for me before. It makes me tough and makes me strive more to gain more!, I am just using it as one block of stair for me to step up, for me to see a clearer sight once I made it to the top, then I will see a clearer site to the destination where I desired to go. It depends on how the person thinks and how he handles his or her problem. Just remember this quote that "a Problem is not a problem, the problem is, how you will handle your problem."

3. ATTITUDE
I remembered a spectacular story from a scientist who conducted an experiment in to his house, he tried many times all over again, and again and again, until such time his house got burned, because of the massive explosion that quickly ate up his house, he directly kept all the materials with him and went out from his house, and then he said to his son while staring to his house that "Call your mother!", "Why?" his son replied with curiosity, "Because she never seen a fired house before!" The scientist was Thomas Edison, it's quite an irony that he even let the situation turn up to be positive which his wife can benefit into it, well that's Thomas Edison, with great attitude!

4. VISION:
There are a lot of things to consider why not to fail because for others, it cost a lot of time, money, and effort, well for me, I don't know with the others if they would agree with me on that, I invest so much on my failures that would make me more smart and wiser as a person after the challenges, although, part of being a wise and smart person is to save money, but for me, I don't want to save money for the sake of keeping it or using it otherwise, I actually invested it to learn things that I must, for me to use it to the near future(venturing my businesses) I take this as an advantage/edge over others, because it makes me more tough as a person that to the extent that I don't have the fear of losing, losing money, conquering my fears, handles rejection from the society, and manage risk.

                            JUST DON'T QUIT!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

I remember those lines when i was still in grade six, that our teacher let us memorize the stanza's of that poem, for me, if my batch-mates knows how to take advantage on it, they would see the importance of the poem to their lives, because at first, I am just ignoring the poem, but shockingly, I memorized it by tongue not by heart(I know this would relate to others too), the only line that I remembered most is the "Rest, if you must, but don't you quit." Although it is too short but it means a lot to me, I didn't appreciate its content but now that I am more matured than before, I seek for those lines and internalize it, to use it when in times of darkness in my life, and fortunately I regain strength and move forward. In school, it is not important on how many years you've stayed, but what matters most is that you didn't quit, even if you reach 10 years in high school and 7 years in college, it will not matter, in fact I salute to those students who didn't quit in-spite of the adjustments every failures that they've meet and bravely face it.

I know a lot of people would disagree with me, on the following ways that I've shared, remember I am just giving an idea on why not to get worry and giving hope to others not to crack their foreheads because life is too short to worry such things, you only have 1 life to live don't waste the time just worrying your imperfections, in fact your imperfections gives other people a life of perfection, endless happiness, and tough challenges, that adds spice in to their lives, practicing being tough and giving the wisdom to remember when in times of depression and low enthusiasm.

Youth are very enthusiastic in nature, but let us sustain the image of our smile and laughters, letting the old ones remember their teenage years.
I know someday I could be one of the people who helps building our nation, helps in changing people's mindset, and peoples pocket.

I believe that if you change the mindset of a person, you definitely change his/her life, and it would have a domino effect that each one of us will help each other reach our goals in life using the knowledge, wisdom, and ideas that I have and share it to them. Lets just think out of the box, let's just also think out of our own pocket, let's just think out of our failures, thinking towards the success and possibilities.

Possibilities and challenges strengthens you, but if you cannot handle possibilities and challenges it might weaken you.
REMEMBER: "If you're doing your best, you won't have any time to worry about failure."
May God Bless us all!
